Dr. Courtney received her undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State University in 2001. She attended UTHSC San Antonio and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2005 with honors in research. Dr. Courtney joined Stone Oak Pediatric Dentistry in the summer of 2005. She returned to UT San Antonio from 2007 to 2009 to complete her Pediatric Residency.
She grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas. After marrying her high school sweetheart and best friend, Rick, they made their home here in San Antonio. They both love the Texas Longhorns and enjoy spending time with their huskies, Lexi and Brinkley. This Spring Dr. Courtney became a mommy! Her daughter, Londyn Payton, was born in March.
She was appointed as one of four dentists in Texas to serve on the Texas Dental Association Committee on the New Dentist and now serves as chair of that committee. She was elected to serve on the San Antonio District Dental Society Board of Directors. She also serves on the SADDS Committee on the New Dentist.
Dr. Courtney was selected from across the nation as the 2008 Samuel Harris Fellow. This fellowship is sponsored by Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children the Foundation of the American Academy of pediatric Dentistry. In 2008, Dr. Courtney was the recipient of the Texas Dental Association New Dentist of the Year Leadership Award.
In April 2009, Dr. Courtney received the American Dental Association Golden Apple for New Dentist Leadership. This prestigious award is given to one new dentist each year who exemplifies commitment and dedication to organized dentistry.
Dr. Courtney is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Dental Association, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, San Antonio District Dental Society and the San Antonio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In her spare time she loves to read, spend time with her family, go to church and watch movies.
